Minneapolis and Saint Paul

Short-form ads that turn scrolls into booked jobs.

We make the vertical video and photography that stops a thumb mid-scroll, then keeps it stopped long enough to fill your calendar. Built for service businesses that need the phone to ring, not the view count to climb.

Scroll

Three seconds is all you get. Views are not customers. The offer comes before the camera.

01 The problem

Views are
not customers

A million views and an empty calendar is a very expensive hobby. We start every project at the other end: what you sell, who buys it, and what has to happen on screen before somebody picks up the phone.

The offer comes before the camera
If the thing you are selling is not clear in the first line, no amount of colour grading fixes it.
We cut for the drop-off, not the highlight reel
Every edit is built around where people leave. That is the only frame that costs you money.
One shoot, a month of posts
You are not paying for a day of filming. You are paying for four weeks of things to say.
Typical branded post A KHEA edit Viewers still watching
Illustrative, not a client report. Retention is the whole difference between a video people scroll past and a video people buy from.

02 The anatomy

What we do with
your first thirty seconds

Every ad we cut is built in four parts. This is the whole method, and you are welcome to use it on the videos you shoot yourself.

  1. 0:00 to 0:03

    The hook

The first three seconds have to name a problem your customer already has. Not your logo, not a drone shot of the shop. A roofer opening with what hail damage looks like from the ground will beat the same video with a title card in front of it, every time.

  2. 0:03 to 0:12

    The proof

Show the work happening. Hands, tools, the mess, the before and the after. This is the part most businesses cut for time, and it is the part that makes a stranger believe you can actually do the job.

  3. 0:12 to 0:22

    The offer

One thing, said plainly. A free estimate, a price that holds to the end of the month, two slots open this week. Two offers in one ad works out the same as none.

  4. 0:22 to 0:30

    The ask

Tell them exactly what to do and make it one tap. Call the number on screen beats link in bio, because every extra step is somewhere to lose them.

03 What we make

Four things
we actually sell

  • Vertical edits built around a hook and cut for retention, delivered in every version you need for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. We write the first line before we light anything.

    • Hook writing
    • On-screen captions
    • 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1
    • Licensed audio
  • Stills shot on the same day, in the same light, as the video. Your grid, your website and your ads finally look like one business instead of three.

    • Product
    • Team and headshots
    • Space and interiors
    • Retouching
  • Several hooks, one offer, built to be tested rather than admired. We hand your media buyer files they can run on the day they get them.

    • Hook variants
    • UGC-style spots
    • Static ad sets
    • Meta and TikTok specs
  • What to say, in what order, to which audience. The plan the shoot is built on, so one day of filming produces a month of posts instead of a folder of clips.

    • Offer audit
    • Content calendar
    • Posting cadence
    • Monthly review

05 How it runs

From call
to booked jobs

  1. Day 0

    Strategy call

Forty-five minutes on your offer, your customer and your numbers. Free, and you leave with a plan whether or not you hire us.

  2. Day 3

    Creative direction

Shot list, hooks and scripts, sent to you for approval. Nobody picks up a camera until you have signed off on what it is pointed at.

  3. Day 7

    Production day

One crew, one day, everything on the list. We shoot video and stills together so the whole set matches.

  4. Day 14

    Delivery, then iterate

First cuts land within a week of the shoot. Then we watch how they perform and re-cut the ones worth pushing harder.

06 Packages

Three ways to work together

If none of them fit, say what you are trying to sell and what you can spend, and we will tell you which one to bend or that we are the wrong studio for it.

Travel inside the Twin Cities metro is included. Everything is quoted before anything is booked, and nothing is billed until you have approved the direction.

07 The math

Run your
own numbers

We are not going to show you somebody else’s results. The only figure that decides whether this is worth doing is yours: how much work would it have to bring in before it pays for itself?

Break-even

5 jobs

Engine pays for itself in any month it books you 5 jobs.

Profit on one job
$750
Finished assets
56
Cost per finished asset
$61

This is arithmetic, not a forecast. Nobody can promise you a number of jobs before they have seen your offer, and you should be wary of any studio that does.

08 Questions

Questions
we get

Yes. Anywhere inside the metro is included in the price. Greater Minnesota and western Wisconsin are quoted with travel; further than that, we bill flights and a day rate, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth it.

We do, and you approve them before the shoot. If you already have a writer, we will work from their lines instead. Either way nothing gets filmed that you have not read.

You tell us, and we re-cut it. Two rounds of revisions are included on every package and minor changes are unlimited on Engine. Approving the direction up front means this almost never becomes a fight.

You own full commercial rights to every delivered file. Raw footage is available on request. We only ask to show the finished work in our own portfolio, and you can say no to that.

Usually within two weeks. We take a limited number of retainers at once so that every client gets a full shoot day, so the calendar does fill. Send an inquiry and we will tell you the next open date.

We build the creative and hand it over in the specs your buyer needs. If you do not have a buyer we will introduce you to one we trust rather than pretend media buying is our craft.
